Step One - Volunteer Chat

We start with an informal meeting to have a chat about a placement. We will usually discuss:

• Who are TDAS and what support do we offer
• How do Volunteers fit into that and what projects we do
• What interests, skills and insight would you be interested in bringing to TDAS
• Our expectations from a TDAS Volunteer

Step Two - Paperwork & DBS check

It’s important for us to gather basic information about you and for you to have a better understanding of our polices and procedure. The paperwork you would receive would be:

• Express of Interest Form
• Emergency Contact Form
• Volunteer Agreement
• Volunteer Group Procedure
• DBS supporting documents information

Once we receive the paperwork back, we will put in for a DBS check if required. There is a role for everyone, so we ensure this step is taken to place volunteers in the most appropriate project roles.

Step Three - Training

We want to ensure our volunteers are well trained and have the confidence they need to do the best work they can. We offer a few different training opportunities for our volunteers:

• DA Champions Training - This will give the basic information needed around what Domestic Abuse is
• In House Training - This will cover professional bounders, safeguarding, triggers and lots more. There will also be further training given according to the project placement.
